Google Gemini's New Memory Feature Lets AI Remember Your Past Conversations

Google’s Gemini AI chatbot can now tailor its responses based on the content of previous conversations, a significant advancement allowing it to recall information across different conversation threads, the company announced in a blog post on Thursday. This new “recall” feature, focused on Google Gemini conversation recall, enables Gemini to summarize past chats or retrieve details shared in other conversations.

Users can disable the recall feature entirely via the “My Activity” page in Gemini. Google also emphasized that it does not train its large language model on user conversation histories.

However, Google collects various data points, including conversations, location, feedback, and usage information, to improve and develop its products and services. They have implemented safeguards to protect user privacy, even with features allowing one to retrieve Google Gemini conversations.
